A concussion can happen during a car crash, a slip-and-fall accident, an assault or any other time a person experiences a violent blow. A concussive traumatic brain injury occurs when the brain is pushed against the skull's inner wall, sustaining damage.

After the immediate effects of the concussion have subsided, the injured person may experience persistent symptoms. This is known as post-concussion syndrome.

After the Concussion, When Symptoms Continue

Post-concussion syndrome occurs after the initial injury at the root of the concussion. Not everyone who has a concussion will experience post-concussion syndrome, and there is no consensus on why some people do and some people don't.

Symptoms can persist for weeks or months. They include headaches, fatigue and dizziness. Other symptoms may include insomnia, anxiety, irritability, problems with concentration and memory, and sensitivity to light and noise.

When Symptoms Are Present, How to Treat Them

Of course, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as a concussion occurs. But patients should not forget about follow-up care, particularly when they are experiencing the symptoms of post-concussion syndrome.

Doctors do not have a single, simple test to determine whether patients are suffering from post-concussion syndrome. Rather, they eliminate other causes and confirm the origin of symptoms. The treatment may not even come from a single doctor: in addition to the main treating physician, a psychologist or psychiatrist may treat depression, anxiety and memory problems, and an ear, nose and throat doctor may help with dizziness.

For depression and anxiety, a doctor may use either psychotherapy or prescription medications (antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications). For tension or migraine headaches, a doctor may prescribe medications. For cognitive problems, however, time and therapy - rather than medication - are typically most helpful.

Only a portion of those who sustain a concussion will experience post-concussion syndrome. For those who do, however, seeking medical attention is the first step toward addressing the symptoms.

Officers throughout North Carolina are out in force this week as part of the state's annual "Booze It & Lose It: Operation Firecracker" campaign to stop drunk drivers over the Fourth of July holiday. Checkpoints and increased patrols began on Monday and will continue through July 4. During last year's program, officers' efforts led to 1,200 arrests for DWI.

Impaired Drivers Can Cause Serious Injuries

It is no secret that drunk driving is a problem in the U.S. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 11,000 people died in alcohol-related crashes nationwide in 2009, the last year for which statistics for available. The number of alcohol-related car accidents tends to spike around holidays such as New Year's Eve, Thanksgiving and Independence Day. By some estimates, 53 percent of fatal car crashes around July 4 in the U.S. involve at least one intoxicated driver.

Unfortunately, North Carolina is not immune to this nationwide trend. According to the North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program, 205 alcohol-related crashes occurred in the state during the Fourth of July holiday week in 2010. Those 205 crashes caused 105 injuries and six fatalities.

Of course, drunk drivers not only endanger themselves, but also the unsuspecting drivers with whom they share the road. Under North Carolina law, all drivers are required to use reasonable care under the circumstances while operating a motor vehicle. Drivers who do not exercise the proper amount of care - including drunk drivers - may be liable to the parties they injure in a negligence claim. If a victim's claim is successful, he may be able to recover for medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering.

If you or someone you love has been injured in a car accident with a drunk driver, contact an experienced personal injury attorney. A knowledgeable personal injury lawyer can assess your case and help you get the compensation you deserve. For more information, contact an attorney today.

Most companies dread being contacted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) because it often means that they are being investigated for a workplace safety violation. Many investigations are launched following the occurrence of a workplace injury or filing of a workers' compensation claim. If an OSHA investigation uncovers a workplace safety violation, employers are usually issued a fine and ordered to correct the violation.

According to recently released statistics, the top 10 most frequently cited violations in 2010 each brought in over a $1 million in penalties and fines:

Employers were often cited for not following general requirements and providing adequate protection for employees at risk of falling objects while working on or near scaffolding.

Businesses were fined for common fall protection violations including inadequate safeguards that prevent workers from falling when working on ledges, beams or areas higher than 6 feet.

Companies, especially interacting with hazardous materials and chemicals, were penalized for improper chemical hazard communication to employees.

Workplaces were also found to have insufficient respiratory protection for employees.

Many employers were cited for failing to follow proper requirements for ladders and related ladder-use.

Companies servicing machines or heavy equipment were fined for unacceptable lockout or tagout procedures when maintenance was being performed on the machines. Companies working with heavy equipment were also often found to not have proper machine guards in place to help protect workers operating the machines.

Industries utilizing heavy trucks were often cited for faulty design, inadequate maintenance and improper operation of powered industrial trucks.

Some companies were also found violating electrical protocols including improper grounding of electrical equipment, poor wiring and violating general requirements when designing electrical systems.

In addition to fines collected from these frequent workplace safety violations, OSHA also implemented large penalties following the occurrence of several large industrial accidents. Topping the list of large fines levied included an $80 million penalty imposed on the gas giant BP. Surprisingly, though, BP's violations were not a result of the massive Gulf oil spill, but rather due to a follow-up investigation from a 2005 Texas City refinery explosion that killed 15 workers and injured another 170 employees. BP paid a number of fines immediately following the explosion, but failed to fix many of the safety violations.

This blog is sixth in a series of blog posts intended to bring insight into basic auto insurance policies, insurance coverage and what motor vehicle drivers should know.

Tip #4: Know What Your Car is Worth

Sometimes cheaper insurance rates are due to the auto insurance company undervaluing your car. If your auto insurance company does undervalue your car, and you end up totaling it in a car accident, you might not receive enough money to replace it with a car of comparable value.

When insurance companies total cars (usually when the cost to repair the vehicle is 70 percent or more of the vehicle's value), they offer you fair market value to replace the car. Instead of using a service like Edmonds or Kelley Blue Book, insurance companies use a claim servicing firm that will value your car based on similar used vehicles available in your area. That does not mean that the value is always fair. If you think the number offered is particularly low, come up with your own comparable list or hire an outside adjuster. You have the right to appeal an insurance company's offer.

If your car is repairable, the insurance company will likely provide you with a list of recommended auto body shops. Some insurance companies have agreements with selected auto body shops and will offer you incentives for choosing one of their recommended repair shops. Other insurance companies have even bought their own repair shops.

You have the right to pick your own repair shop. While the recommended repair shop might be the best in town, that is not always true. In some cases, these "recommended" shops may cut corners or use cheap replacement parts, reducing the costs for the insurance company. In many ways, they are working for the insurance company, not for you. If you select one of these companies for repairs, you might want to have a post-repair inspector review the work. An inspector can also help you assess diminished value, and you may be able to collect the diminished value of your vehicle from the other party's insurance company (if they were found to be at-fault for the accident).

This blog is fifth in a series of blog posts intended to bring insight into basic auto insurance policies, insurance coverage and what motor vehicle drivers should know.

Tip #3: Dealing with Insurance Adjusters After An Automobile Accident

While the insurance adjuster assigned to your claim may seem like a friendly person who simply wants to help you out during a difficult time, keep in mind that they are not looking out for your best interests. They have been hired by the insurance company to protect the insurance company's interest. Often they will pressure you into signing a settlement agreement or check and giving a recorded statement. It is a good idea to speak with an attorney experienced in dealing with insurance companies before you give a statement or sign anything.

The insurance industry is a for-profit industry, with highly trained negotiators whose goal is to reduce costs for their employer. As a way of reducing costs, insurance adjusters will try to settle your claim as soon as possible. While you may think, "I just want this over with," and feel like you should agree to everything the adjuster says, that is not always in your best interest. While some motor vehicle accidents may be straightforward, not all are - sometimes it can take time before you know the full extent of your injuries (and see all of the related medical bills).

You may think there is no harm in talking to an adjuster so that the insurance company can get to the root of the matter and resolve your claim. But remember that insurance adjusters are trained to ask questions designed to get you to agree with their version of events. And they want you to make recorded statements that could potentially be used later in court to minimize your pain and injuries. No matter how reasonable a question may sound, do not agree to it.

By getting you to settle shortly after the accident, the insurance adjusters are trying to minimize the amount of money the insurance company pays you for vehicle repairs, medical treatment and lost wages. To this end, they will often pressure you into signing a settlement agreement or check.

You probably want to get your car fixed, so what is the harm in signing over the insurance check to the body shop? The harm in signing anything is always in the fine print. The fine print may release your personal injury claims in addition to the compensation for damages to your car. Sometimes you may not know the extent of the damages to your vehicle, may still be receiving medical treatment for injuries or may be out of work longer than you thought. By endorsing a check, you may be agreeing that you will not pursue any additional compensation for expenses related to the accident.

Even if you have dealt with insurance companies before, be aware that there are a lot of pitfalls that you may fail to recognize. So any time you are concerned about whether they are properly handling your accident claim or proposing a fair settlement, seek advice from an experienced car accident attorney.

This blog is fourth in a series of blog posts intended to bring insight into basic auto insurance policies, insurance coverage and what motor vehicle drivers should know.

Tip #2: Read the Fine Print

Many policies have restrictions and coverage limitations buried in the fine print. You may be surprised at what is covered and what is not. Some of the common coverages and restrictions that people aren't often aware of include:

Many car insurance policies will cover injuries to your pet if it is riding in the car with you during an accident.

Unless you carry comprehensive coverage, damages to your car due to vandalism, theft or caused by the weather are not usually covered.

Lending your car to someone does not mean that that person is covered by your insurance policy. Drivers not explicitly listed on your policy (or added in a rider that covers anyone you lend your car to) are not usually covered by your insurance, so if they cause a car accident your insurance company might not pay for the damages to your vehicle.

Many policies have strict notification requirements, such as notifying the company within 30 days if your car was damaged in a hit-and-run accident.

Your health insurance policy and your auto insurance policy may have overlapping coverages. If you are injured in an accident the two insurance companies may argue over who has to pay the bill. Check your policy to see what medical coverage is provided.

Understanding the fine print of an auto insurance policy can be a daunting task. If you don't understand something or think your insurance company has not given you a straight answer, talk to an attorney who is experienced in handling auto accidents. They can help you understand what is covered and what isn't to make sure that you are protected.

This blog is third in a series of blog posts intended to bring insight into basic auto insurance policies, insurance coverage and what motor vehicle drivers should know.

Tip #1: Shopping for Auto Insurance

You can change auto insurance companies at any time. If you decide to change companies and you've already pre-paid for the period, the insurance company has to refund you the pro-rated amount upon your cancellation. Sometimes it might make sense to switch insurance during your current policy, especially if you've gotten married, turned 25 or had a traffic violation cleared off your record during the current period of coverage.

If you seek advice directly from an insurance agent (rather than an online shopping comparison website), keep in mind that insurance agents often work on commission and may simply try to get you to sign with them rather than making sure that the coverage is the best coverage for you. And what is "best" for one driver may not be "best" for another driver. Be sure to carry enough insurance coverage to protect your home and your assets in the event of a serious accident.

What you pay for car insurance premiums depends on several factors, including:

Your age. Drivers under age 25, especially males, are in a higher-risk group so insurance companies typically charge them more for car insurance. After three years of driving experience, with no motor vehicle accidents, you may be quoted a lower rate. Getting married may also reduce your rate, as married people are seen to be more responsible and less risky from the insurance industry's perspective. Completing special driving courses - such as defensive driving - may also help to reduce your rate.

Your credit. When shopping for auto insurance policies, you're typically asked for your Social Security number so that the insurance company can run a credit report on you. If you have good credit, you are statistically less likely to be involved in an accident, so companies usually offer lower premium rates to drivers with good credit.

Your vehicle. Insurers rate your car based on several factors, including: safety ratings, theft data and the value of the vehicle. If the car is older or has high safety ratings, it is usually determined to be less of a risk to the company and therefore they will offer you lower premiums. On the other hand, newer cars and those that are often stolen by thieves typically have higher premiums because there is a greater risk that the insurance company may have to replace it.

How you pay. Each company has their own discounts based on how you pay and there are a variety of ways to pay for car insurance: in a lump sum upfront, going paperless and paying online, or pay in monthly installments via automatic deductions. Ask companies what discounts they provide for payment.

Does the rate you were quoted for auto insurance seem too good to be true? Contact the North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI) to check whether the insurance company is licensed in your state. If the coverage seems too good to be true at the price you've been quoted, there is a chance that it might be. You can report any suspected fraud or complaints to the NCDOI as well.

If you do decide to switch insurers make sure you officially cancel your policy. If you switch insurers during your current period, be sure to notify the old insurer in writing that you are cancelling and include a termination date. This will ensure that the policy is fully cancelled and that you're not reported to credit bureaus for nonpayment.

In addition to bodily injury liability and personal injury protection (PIP) which cover medical bills and treatment following an accident, most car insurance policies provide several different types of coverage for damage to property and vehicles involved in an accident.

Coverage for Property Damage and Vehicle Damage

When you or someone driving your car with permission runs into someone's yard, a fence, lamp post, telephone pole, building or other structure, property damage liability will cover the damages to the property. In North Carolina, you are required to carry at least $25,000 in property damage liability.

If your car is damaged in a motor vehicle accident, by another object (such as a pothole) or due to a rollover, collision coverage will pay for the damages. Deductibles for collision coverage - how much you have to pay for repairs - vary: the higher the deductible, the lower your premium.

If your car is damaged due to theft, vandalism or a force of nature (hail, flood, fire, falling objects, earthquake, explosion, tornado, etc.), the damages are covered by comprehensive coverage. Like collision, deductibles vary. Comprehensive also often covers broken windshields and you can usually get no-deductible glass coverage so you do not have to pay for a new windshield.

Both collision and comprehensive coverage are optional. People with inexpensive vehicles often only carry liability insurance, and do not opt for these extra coverages - which means if they are found at-fault for an accident, their insurance will not cover damages or replace their cars. However, if a driver who only carries liability insurance is not found at-fault, they may be able to recoup their loss through the at-fault driver's insurance company or via other means. In those instances, particularly if someone has been seriously injured, it is advisable to talk to a motor vehicle accident attorney.

This blog is the first in a series of blog posts intended to bring insight into basic auto insurance policies, insurance coverage and what motor vehicle drivers should know.

While not everyone's auto insurance policy is exactly the same, most have the same six basic types of coverage - coverages that cover everything from vandalism and property damage to injuries caused by car accidents and uninsured drivers.

Coverage for Motor Vehicle Accident Injuries

In the event of an accident, injuries caused by drivers listed on the policy (typically you, your spouse and older children) to anyone else are covered under bodily injury liability. Bodily injury liability also covers injuries to anyone listed on your insurance policy when you are driving someone else's car with their permission.

In North Carolina, you are required to have at least $30,000 in bodily injury coverage for at least one person and $60,000 for two or more people. It is important to have adequate bodily liability coverage, because if you are involved in a serious car accident you may be sued for more than just what your insurance policy covers.

Treatment for injuries to the drivers listed on the policy and passengers in your car are covered by personal injury protection (PIP) coverage. PIP usually covers medical bills, funeral expenses and lost wages. This coverage is not required by North Carolina law.

Coverage for Accidents with Uninsured or Uninsured Motorists

Under uninsured motorist coverage, you may be reimbursed for injuries and damages to your car if you are hit by a hit-and-run driver or by someone who is not insured. Under underinsured motorist coverage, if an at-fault driver does not carry adequate insurance coverage to pay for all of your injuries or loss, then your own insurance policy may protect you. Underinsured motorist coverage also can cover injuries if you are hit as a pedestrian.

These coverages are also not required in North Carolina, but often recommended.

Next week, Part II of this blog will explain what types of auto insurance cover vehicle and property damages.

Recent research performed by the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) uncovered that workers' compensation payers are paying total disability benefit payments longer, mainly because with a limited job market, fewer injured workers are able to return to work. Additionally, workers' compensation insurers and employers have seen a sharp drop in claims, since fewer employees generally means fewer workplace accidents.

What Other Effects Have Been Caused by the Recession?

The NCCI estimates that as the economy recovers, claim totals will likely rise as less-experienced workers take newly available mechanical, industrial and factory jobs.

While it is not entirely clear why, the recession also seems to have brought a change in the types of claims being filed. Workers' comp insurers and employers have noticed fewer claims involving:

Lower back injuries like sprained/strained muscles, herniated discs and fractures

Repetitive strain injuries, like carpal tunnel syndrome

Strains or strains in other parts of the body, particularly knee, ankle and wrist injuries

Overall, workplaces are becoming safer, as evidenced by the fact that injury rates have dropped more than 50 percent in the past 20 years. Still, though, as the economy recovers, more job growth will translate into new injuries. If you have been injured on the job and need help filing a workers' compensation claim, seek the advice of an experienced North Carolina workers' comp attorney.

For children across the country, snow, ice and days home from school mean the beginning of wintertime fun. Whether riding on a toboggan, saucer sled or snow tube, kids love the thrill of sliding down their neighborhoods' biggest hills.

Most parents might expect a day spent sledding to lead to the occasional fever or runny nose, but many are unaware that it could also increase their children's risk of sustaining a serious injury. According to a study published recently in the journal Pediatrics, sledding is a dangerous activity and parents should take some basic safety precautions to help their children stay safe.

Researchers from the Center on Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, found that nearly 230,000 children and teens were treated by emergency departments for injuries sustained while sledding from 1997 to 2007 - an average of over 20,000 injuries per year. Although children were found to have suffered a wide variety of less serious injuries, such as bruises, abrasions and sprains, an alarming number suffered broken bones and even brain injury or related-head trauma.

Sledding Safety Tips

While no one expects children to stop sledding, the more parents know about the risks of the activity, the safer everyone will be. And until public snow parks and ski areas require sledders to wear helmets, parents should encourage their children to follow a few basic rules to stay safe:

Choose a sledding area that is free of obstacles. Collisions with trees, poles and benches were the most common cause of sledding injuries to children.

Avoid streets and highways. Although the incidence of injuries sustained by sledders in streets is low, the possibility of catastrophic injury is high.

Use common sense. Do not allow cars, ATVs, snowmobiles or any other vehicle to tow a child on a sled.

No matter what precautions parents take, accidents do happen. If your child is hurt in sledding or tubing accidents as the result of inadequately maintained parks or negligent supervision at tubing hills and ski resorts, contact a North Carolina personal injury attorney.

According to the U.S. National Institutes of Health, almost 38 million children and teenagers across the nation participate in organized sports. From soccer and football to hockey and lacrosse to synchronized swimming and softball, there is no end to the myriad of sports in which America's youth competitively participate.

With organized sports come recognized risks. And, unfortunately, for kids involved in sports it means that one in 10 receive medical attention for sports-related injuries, according to advocacy group Safe Kids USA.

With school and fall/winter sports in full swing, the group is working to educate parents, kids and coaches on the dangers in athletics in order to try reduce student athletes' injuries. Sports-related injuries range from minor scrapes and bruises to sprains, strains, heat stroke, head and brain injuries, and even death.

Orthopedic surgeon, John Hurley, noted that the trend of specializing in specific sports at a young age is unhealthy. When children play the same sport for 12 months straight overuse injuries are more likely to occur. A growing number of injuries are caused by muscle overuse, including fractures and torn ligaments. "The muscle just fatigues out," said Dr. Hurley.

To help prevent your child from sustaining overuse and other sports-related injuries, Safe Kids USA recommends taking the following steps:

Get a pre-sports physical. Even if not required for the sport, having an extensive medical history workup done allows you to establish a baseline of where your child is at and to know if there are any immediate health concerns.

Create realistic and healthy goals. Do not expect perfection and do not let your child strive for it. Playing in sports should be fun, allow them to build relationships and learn about sportsmanship.

Cross-train. Have your child mix up the sports he plays in order to help prevent muscle overuse from the repetition of the same sport. Once your child is 10 or 11 you can even encourage them to use light weights for strength training.

Be involved in your children's sports. Make sure they have healthy practices (with water breaks and snacks when needed) and that the coach or someone involved with the team are first aid certified.

Provide proper equipment. Making sure that helmets and shin guards fit properly and are well-maintained can help prevent injury.

Keep an eye on your athlete's symptoms and mood. Some soreness is normal, but not long term so watch your child carefully.

If your child does sustain a sports-related injury, make sure he or she receives appropriate medical attention. If you suspect the injury might have been a result of the school's or organization's improper maintaining of equipment or the coach's negligence, consult with an experienced personal injury attorney.

Researchers from the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School have found that people receiving workers' compensation for hand injuries receive different care than people with other types of insurance. Their study, published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, determined that people with workers' compensation insurance have a higher number of clinic visits before undergoing surgery, and they also receive more diagnostic testing.

According to the study, workers' compensation accounts for approximately 12 percent of the total payments for orthopaedic care in the United States. It is the third largest payer for orthopaedic services after Medicare and Medicaid.

The researchers emphasized the importance of properly treating arm, wrist and hand injuries because musculoskeletal injuries account for the majority of workers' days away from work due to injury, and upper-extremity injuries are the most common type of all workplace injuries, they reported. Because workers' compensation differs from other types of insurance, they sought to discover whether workers' compensation insurance affects the diagnosis and treatment of hand injuries.

Charles S. Day, M.D., and his colleagues analyzed data from the complete medical records of patients who visited an academic orthopaedic hand clinic in Massachusetts during the course of two years. They compared information on patient history, diagnostic testing, diagnosis, surgery and the wait-time before surgery for patients with workers' compensation insurance and patients with third-party coverage.

The research revealed that people with workers' compensation insurance had a higher number pre-surgery clinic visits than people with standard insurance. Specifically, 69 percent of patients with standard insurance who needed surgery underwent surgery after their first clinic visit, while only 45 percent of patients with workers' compensation insurance had surgery after their first visit. In addition, people with workers' compensation insurance were more likely to receive magnetic resonance imaging or electrodiagnostic testing.

When dogs attack children, it is not uncommon for them to target vulnerable areas of a child, including the face and eyes. What is already a traumatic experience for most children (and their parents) is further exacerbated when eye injuries are sustained, often leading to complicated surgeries and longer recovery periods.

Half of kids sustaining eye injuries as a result of dog attacks required surgery, according to a recent presentation at the annual American Academy of Ophthalmology conference. Dr. Henry Chen, a researcher at the University of Colorado in Denver, stated that 18 percent of kids undergoing eye surgeries also had to return for additional procedures.

Studying Facial Dog Bite Injuries in Children

Dr. Chen studied 537 pediatric patients treated for facial dog bite injuries at The Children's Hospital in Denver from 2003 to 2008. Of those with facial injuries, 14 percent sustained injuries to their eyes. "Eyelids were damaged in all the children with eye injuries," Chen reported.

The study also uncovered that children with eye injuries were:

More likely to have complications - including scarring and tear duct problems.

Significantly younger than those who only sustained injuries to the other parts of their face, at a mean age of 3.9 years old.

Often more severely injured than other children attacked by dogs. In addition to eye injury, these children often had a higher total number of lacerations on their face.

Commonly attacked by Labrador retrievers, German shepherds, Rottweilers and dogs of mixed breeds.

Specialist Attention Early On Could Help Prevent Further Complications

As reported by ABC News, Dr. Chen emphasized that the important thing for doctors to learn from this study is that eye injuries are a risk in children attacked by a dog, and require special attention. "If there's any concern about lacerations around the eye, it would be prudent to call an ophthalmology consultation to evaluate and make sure there aren't these other associated injuries," he said. Immediate attention from a specialist could help prevent need for additional revision surgery.

Recent evaluation of stroller safety by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has lead Graco to issue a recall this past week for two of its popular strollers.

The CPSC discovered that four infant strangulation deaths between 2003 and 2005 were linked to two lines of Graco strollers: the Quattro Tour and the Metro Lite. The particular models being recalled were made prior to November 2006 for the Quattro Tour line and before July 2007 for the Metro Lite line.

The "concern with the recalled Graco strollers is that they pose a serious entrapment hazard and need repair to prevent further deaths or injuries," noted a CPSC spokesman. The recall is believed to be the first ever stroller recall linked to a death.

On average, only two infants a year die in stroller-related accidents, which are usually not related to product defects. The CPSC is warning parents about these particular strollers because unharnessed infants can slide through the opening between the stroller tray and the bottom of the seat, where they are trapped and left gasping for air. If left unattended, the consequences can be tragic.

Stroller design and manufacturing standards changed in 2008, so strollers made after that do not contain the product defect. The industry change increased the size of the openings between the tray and bottom of the seat in order to decrease the risk of infants being trapped and strangled. The change was made, in part, because of known infant deaths in 2003.

In addition to the four deaths, there were at least five other reported incidents where infants were trapped in these strollers, according to the CPSC. The agency cautions against leaving sleeping babies unattended in strollers.

According to the CPSC it is still safe to use the car seat that is a part of the models, but it is not advisable to continuing using the stroller itself until you get a repair kit from Graco. To obtain a repair kit, visit Graco's recall website at www.gracobaby.com/SafetyAndRecall or call (877) 828-4046.

This isn't the first recall on Graco strollers. Earlier in 2010, Graco recalled 1.5 million strollers after discovering that certain strollers were amputating small fingers.
