How Your Personal Injury Case Will Progress

Guiding You Through the Injury Claim Process

When you are relying on a personal injury claim to compensate you for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages, it is important to have confidence in the process that your attorneys are following as they pursue your case.

At the law firm of Grandy & Martin in Charlotte, we let our clients know, up front, how we expect their claims to progress. In a typical North Carolina personal injury case, the process should look something like the following.

  • Your initial consultation: We offer free initial consultations with no obligations. When you contact us, we will discuss your case in depth with you on the phone, discussing your options and how we think we can help you. Thereafter, we will either meet with you at a convenient location or forward to you the paperwork necessary for us to represent you.
  • Accepting representation: If you retain us to represent you, the attorney who you initially met with will continue to be your lawyer as your case progresses. We will also introduce you to other members of our team who provide important support.
  • Medical treatment: Our first priority is your recovery from your injuries. We will make sure your medical treatment is properly coordinated and that your providers are making use of whatever insurance coverage may be available.
  • Researching your case: It is important for a personal injury claim to be strongly rooted in the facts of the case. We will obtain medical records, police reports, witness statements and all other evidence needed to support your accident claim.
  • Settlement discussions: First, we will forward a settlement demand package to the applicable insurance company or other responsible party. Then, we will discuss potential settlements with the responsible party or their insurance company. We will always keep you in the loop about negotiations.
  • Litigation: We will never ask you to accept an inadequate settlement just to avoid going to trial. If we believe that it is necessary to go to court to get the compensation you deserve, we will fully explain the process to you and get your approval.

No matter how far along this path your personal injury claim goes, we will never charge you any legal fees unless we help you obtain compensation for your injuries. For more information or to schedule an appointment with an experienced trial lawyer, please contact us.
